I am nominating my sister, Lauren Chao. Lauren Chao has been teaching in Brooklyn for 10+ years and has dedicated herself to her students. Lauren has experience in all grades from pre-k to fifth grade. She is so passionate about teaching; her approach to teaching is so fun, motivating and encouraging. She creates costumes and dresses up as characters from books to engage her students in learning. She is so creative, writes her own units and curriculum, creates her own projects, plays and more! Lauren goes above and beyond with her class by giving them fun experiences like acting out stories on stage, and creating props and sets to put on theatrical performances. Lauren is the grade leader and has dedicated so much of herself to her school. She has MCed fundraisers and has attended and helped at community events for the school such as parades, relay for life and more. All of Ms. Chao’s students love her and show so much progress throughout the year. She has been rated as a highly effective teacher. Despite the learning loss during the pandemic she has found ways to help students build relationships, socialize and fill the learning gap. Lauren was meant to be a teacher; she has and is making a difference in so many children’s lives!
