$25,000 for Bayonne High School in Bayonne, NJ

Patricia Hosmer is a resilient individual and an exceptional teacher who works incredibly hard to ensure her students feel loved and understand the value of their education. As a breast cancer survivor, Patricia has dedicated her life to educating others, including tutoring students who are homebound due to illnesses. In 2022, aboard the beautiful Norwegian Prima, Patricia was awarded first place in Norwegian’s Giving Joy contest, receiving the grand prize donation of $25,000 for her school.

This summer, at-risk students at Bayonne High School will receive the experience of a lifetime. With the donation from Norwegian Cruise Line, Patricia and her faculty will take their students to see “Hamilton,” the Tony Award®-winning musical retelling of the life of Alexander Hamilton and the revolutionary War, in New York City. Through the musical, students will have the opportunity to learn not only about American history, but about lessons of courage, perseverance, and belief in oneself. After the show, Patricia and the faculty at Bayonne High School will have the unique opportunity to dine at Carmine’s Italian Restaurant in Times Square.

The field trip is the first of many projects Norwegian’s donation will help fund to create exciting and educational opportunities for the students at Bayonne High School.

She is kind, devoted and a marvelous science educator. She shows her students love and makes sure each knows how important they are to her in addition to teaching Biology, and Forensic Science. She helps each student reach their full potential. She remains in touch with many students as they grow into adulthood. Attending her former students’ weddings and baby showers is among her favorite things to do! She relishes watching them grow into their lives and become successful. Her students love her just as much as she loves them! Her biggest joy is being the mother of a wonderful 27-year-old Special Education teacher Rebeca. Her and her daughter enjoy traveling, especially on NCL cruise ships!
