Emily is an incredible blessing to everyone who knows her, especially the students she serves every day as a special education teacher in Harris County. Her heart for her students goes beyond the classroom—she sees their needs and works tirelessly to make sure they feel included, supported, and celebrated. Emily recognized that her students were often left out of traditional school events, so she took the initiative to create opportunities just for them. She started an adaptive field day and an adaptive softball team, both designed specifically for students with special needs. These programs give them a chance to experience the joy of sports, teamwork, and community in a way that meets their abilities and makes them feel like the stars they are. Her love and dedication shine through in everything she does. Emily is changing lives in Harris County, one student at a time.
Emily has been recognized multiple times on our local news for the incredible work she does with her students, and it’s easy to see why. She has also been Teacher of the year. Her dedication to creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for students with special needs has inspired not only her school but the entire Harris County community. What started as a heartfelt idea to make sure every child feels seen and valued has grown into an annual tradition, thanks to Emily’s unwavering passion. Year after year, she continues to lead adaptive events like field day and softball—ensuring her students have the chance to shine, laugh, and experience the joy of being part of something special. None of this would happen without her. The consistency and love she pours into this work is changing lives and setting an example of what true advocacy looks like. None of this would be possible without Emily’s efforts and love for her students.
Emily and her husband Jake have walked through some incredibly difficult seasons together, but their strength, faith, and love never wavered. For years, they faced the painful journey of infertility, holding onto hope through every trial. In the midst of that struggle, Jake was diagnosed with cancer, and they had to put their dream of starting a family on hold to focus on his health and healing. Through it all, they remained devoted to one another and never stopped trusting God’s plan. By His grace, Jake went into recovery and is now doing great! About a year later, their prayers were answered in the most beautiful way when they welcomed their precious daughter, Rainey. Despite all the heartache and challenges, Emily never lost faith and never stepped back from her calling as an incredible special education teacher. She poured her love into her students every single day, even while facing battles at home. Her strength, compassion, and unwavering care for her kids are truly inspirational.
