Brittany doesn’t only just teach her students. She helps create a safe environment for the students to feel safe and somewhere they want to go each day. She goes out of her way to plan fun activities to help make learning fun for the students. I feel she has excellent classroom management because the students respect her but also makes learning fun for the students. I feel her position isn’t easy. She is a 5th grade teacher and students by 5th grade aren’t always the happiest to go to school. I feel Brittany makes them excited and want to come to school each day. Brittany attends the spelling bee each year when it is hosted at different surrounding schools. She volunteers each year to be a judge to help the different schools out. This isn’t something she is made to do but goes above and beyond to volunteer herself. She is a great human being to be around and I wish her nothing but the best for the rest of her teaching years. Brittany won the MAP test attitude and effort competition between the elementary teachers. The students get to silly string their teacher which is Brittany. That is something to volunteered to have done and shows a lot about her character.
Brittany is an outstanding teacher. She won the teacher of the year award at Meadville. The teacher staff gets to nominate the top three teachers they feel that go above and beyond at the school. Then once you’re nominated in the top three, the principals and superintendent get to decide who they best feels earns the award. Brittany does an outstanding job and was selected for this award. She was recognized in an assembly and everyone was happy for her. This is a hard award to win and I feel she was very deserving! In order to be considered for the teacher of the year award there are also qualifications you have to meet. One of those is the amount of time you have been at the school. I think she is going on her 9th or 10th year so she is a big supporter of Meadville school. Brittany also won the PTO grant for funding to purchase a science kit for her 5th grade classroom. All the elementary teachers applied for this grant and Brittany was selected by the PTO board. She is very kind and never bats an eye to help someone out. I think Brittany is very deserving of this.
Brittany has came over many challenges in her time as a teacher. The big one is during the pandemic of COVID. The school basically had to become online since you couldn’t go to school. She made the best of it and still tried to give her students the best learning possible. Another challenge she has faced is having two kids of her own while being a teacher. She took the least amount of maternity leave so she would be at school for her students. She makes sacrifices with her own family to support her students. Being at a small school like Meadville, there is only one teacher per grade. Brittany does all her lesson planning herself. She overcomes many challenges with starting over sometimes but she always finds a way to come up with fun lessons and still teach the students the standards they need to be taught. She has had many administrator’s in her time at Meadville but still manages to be at the top and always puts in the work. With having different administrators, that means lots of different changes each year. She adapts to the new environment and supports the different decisions even if she doesn’t like it.
